Malaysia Summer Camp June.11 – June.17.2018

In the morning of June 11 2018, the delegation of Summer Camp to IPK School, Malaysia organized by the Resources Development Institute - University of Tra Vinh departed to Penang, Malaysia at 14:30 local time. After that, the students checked-in and enjoyed their first meal at Kim Hee restaurant.

On June.12.2018, the students visited the campus and began the lessons with Mr. Florent Guilloux and Ms. Noor Sakinah Mohamad Ali about religious topics, English communication topics, and how to make friends with IPK students who come were from Thailand and Indonesia. Most of the children were confident to answer questions from their teachers. They are also comfortable introducing themselves and participating in games.

In addition, the students took  part in a trip to the Museum in Lembah Bujang - Kedah State, an Indian Temple, a Chinese Pagoda, enjoyed the street art paintings - Street Art Alley at Butterworth, and enjoyed traditional Malay street food. At the end the the third day, the enjoyed delicious food and played games in Auto City.

In the morning of June 14, 2018, they were taught by Mr. Florent Guilloux about George Town, a neighborhood within Penang, Malaysia that is recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other popular attractions included famous architecture, such as the Komtar building which stands at 232 meters high. KOMTAR stands for Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak. This symmetrical 12-sided geometric building is named after the late second Prime Minister - Tun Abdul Razak Hussein - of Malaysia. Completed in 1986, KOMTAR is the tallest building in Southeast Asia. It was once one of the first retail centers in Penang; and the latest renovation has upgraded the area to the level of modern commercial centers. It has been compared to Saigon's big markets to help the students understand the similarities, and they learned new phrases "shophouse", "clanhouse" and the reason Chinese people live and trade with their family.

In the afternoon, students visited Sungai Pandan Waterfall. They learned that people should not throw litter in the water and that they should not pick fruit, break the branches.

On June 15, 2018, student presented about their feelings after three days studying in Penang, Malaysia and expressing their likes and dislikes about the trip. Then they and their parents experienced a traditional Hindu festival and food.

On June 16, 2018, the students attended the closing ceremony and received certificate from Mr. Louis Yeoh - Vice Rector of the IPK School.

Then the group went to George Town City, enjoyed the special dishes asam laksa cooked from sour soup mackerel, painted Henna, visited the famous Kek Lok si temple, enjoyed the 3D graffiti wall paintings in Penang, the highest building in Penang, saw the whole city from 240 meters high, visited the aquarium with a variety of rare fish and the dinosaur games.

In the morning of June 17, 2018, the delegation prepared their luggage to go back to Vietnam. Mr.Tran Nhat Huy, a student in Grade 5 thanked teachers for helping him become more confident; Ms.Tran Khanh Tran- student at Tra Vinh University said that the trip was very interesting and thanked the teachers and expressed hope to come back to IPK next year.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Lan – Deputy Director of Center for International Education Development and Service – Resource Development Institute thanked IPK teachers for a warming and welcome trip. She also thanked the parents and students who accompanied them for the past two years.  She said “the summer camp  in Malaysia and the Philippines will be held the second time on July 2018.
